The Official Line
This CD was originally put out under “Ensonic Music Productions” in 1998. It features Ryan Oliver (Dogbus Music, defined by what we steal), Colin Crowley (Sunlit Ambush), Jeremiah Stewart (Sunlit Ambush) and Hewan Woolley. When Dogbus Music was created in 2000, we took control of the records under Ensonic Music Production. EPM was the crowning jewel. In the day of The Fheds, Fat Chance and Kind there was Ensonic. On October 2nd 1998 they put out EPM, an alternative rock record that gives you a pretty good idea where the future members of Sunlit Ambush and defined by what we steal were when they were 15, 16 and 17 years old.

This album is fun and deserves to be heard by anyone who is interested in the history of the local music scene. It’s family friendly, hard-rocking and it was recorded the day after a really bitchin’ party.

Feb 23 2011-This was my first band and I remember having a blast doing this. We used to infuse this band into every facet of our lives and even played some decent shows too.
We had a penchant for soup and pornography and also worked in pro wrestling episodes whenever possible.
I’ll never forget the first show I ever played with Ensonic at a public school for a United Way cause and sitting there and being super nervous and hoping that all my basic gear would work. I forgot to turn on my distortion volume and the song started with that. My first chord ever was a silenced mistake.
I also remember winning a battle of the bands and two fellow students being super mad. I can’t remember their name because I was in Ensonic and they weren’t.
I think one had a crush on me. (And rightfully so. I was in Ensonic!)
I also remember playing with Klip Squad. And they were super drunk another time and very funny as well.
I guess that was a great way to start in the band scene.
Anyways, happy to see Ryan putting the time in for this cause and I look forward to hearing some of the other forgotten bands of CKL as well.”

The Official Line
A compilation CD of the best the City Of The Kawartha Lakes had to offer in 2002. Originally known as the “Lindsay Music Project”, Outloud is what ended up putting Dogbus Music on the map. Since the release of this CD, Outloud has become a massive project for the Dogbus Community and every year we try to showcase what this city has to offer.

The first CD was put together in two months. By contacting all the local bands we knew we assembled some of the coolest music we could find. This CD features the first appearance of Jay Spectre, which broke him into the scene and brought him to where he is in 2004. It also featured an appearance by The Delicious Fakers who, within a matter of months would reform to create Sunlit Ambush.

The CD was launched with a big show in Lindsay and was followed by a summer unlike any we’ve seen in the local music scene. Unfortunately, this piece of history is completely sold out. The only way to find a copy is to check with the bands on the compilation. Every band got ten copies of the record when it was released and there is still a chance that someone has an extra one kicking around.

January 27, 2011 - Dogbus was essentially created to put out this album. I created this compilation to bring together and provide a single image/representation of the Lindsay music scene at the time. I had just dropped out of film school as was desperate to find some directly in one form or another. Having played with Ensonic previously, I found that the scene was disjointed, everyone seeking attention individually and no one really working together. As a result, we had no venues for shows as there was no single representation; fan bases were just friend groups, as there was minimal exposure to other bands. I thought it appropriate to bring everyone together under one roof. You could say this was my attempt to unionize the Lindsay music scene. I never anticipated that it would blow up the way it did, but you’re reading this today because of the success of this one album.

Everyone pulled together to see this through. Each band contributed their own money to the overall costs and received copies of the CD in thanks. My mom actually designed the cover of this album, based on a picture of Tyler Trumbull that I had taken at an MFR! Show. We launched the CD at a show in Victoria Park in Lindsay, but the momentum really picked up after Rockapaloozafestockival 1.

Outloud 2 was a better album musically, and Outloud 3 was professionally produced… but Outloud 1 started it all. It exposed the people of the Kawartha Lakes to what was going on, and put all of these bands on the map. With the exception of the Delicious Fakers (who would become Sunlit Ambush) and Hooty McOwl (who never really existed and was just me, pretending to be a rapping owl), all of these bands would become staples of the music scene for the years to come. The other thing this album created, that I had hoped it would, was a bunch of “singles” for bands that were otherwise getting no radio play. Songs like “No One’s a Virgin” by the DGB, “Heaven Closed its Door” by Jay Spectre and “Good to Feel Down” by Looking for Heather became instant classics and concert favourites. If only we could have kept this going.
